TKLDMU organises 'Academic Odyssey'

Tangkhul Katamnao Long Dhanamanjuri University (TKLDMU) organised an academic event, titled 'An Academic Odyssey', under the theme of 'Scholarship and Stewardship' at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Tourism director Pooja Elangbam highlighted the importance of the event, adding that students from various communities who are studying in Imphal need to be encouraged as they could become leaders of the future generation.
She stressed the need to learn and understand the unique character and culture of every community, while urging for more interaction between communities for united development.

Stating that civil service is not the lone career option, she encouraged students to try becoming entrepreneurs and launch start-ups, instead of focussing only on the traditional paths.
She called for utilising the rich culture and tradition of Tangkhul to generate jobs and also advised students to focus on other curricular apart from their books as it would help in development of their personality and character.
She also urged students to be aware of both national and international affairs, adding that any challenges they face in their life could be solved by the knowledge gained academically.
The event was attended by Ukhrul SDO Dingringam Kamei as guest of honour.
Manipur University History Department research scholar Soyaphy Khangrah presented a paper on 'Head hunting practices of the Luhuppas (Tangkhul)', while IGNTU director Prof Ngalengnam Ngalung spoke on the topic of engagement in teaching, scholarship and leadership as resource person.
As part of the event, meritorious students were feted, followed by a poetry recitation session and a Tangkhul cultural show.
Later, a personality development session was also held.
