NHIDCL holds awareness on safe highway

National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), through its Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) in Tengnoupal, conducted an awareness campaign in areas under Kiyam Siphai locality and Kodompokpi Sports Complex in Thoubal district on Sunday.
The campaign focused on educating the public and roadside vendors about maintaining a clear Right-of-Way on the National Highways and the dangers posed by unauthorised structures.
As part of the campaign, pamphlets were distributed to raise awareness about the risks to public safety due to encroachments and to inform the public that such acts are punishable offences.
The initiative is in sync with the directive by the Supreme Court of India, issued on August 27 this year, under Writ Petition (civil) No 1272/2019, emphasising the importance of obstruction-free roadways.
The campaign organised under the supervision of NHIDCL's regional office in Imphal is aimed at highlight the need for smooth and safe National Highways, ensuring the well-being of commuters and the public.
