Van Mahotsav observance held at Khongjom

Thoubal, July 05 2024: The week-long District Level 75th Van Mahotsav was observed in the district by Thoubal Forest Division at Khongjom War Memorial Complex on Friday.

Observance of Van Mahotsav week from July 1 to 7 to spread awareness on forest conservation and protect the environment, was attended by Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash, Thoubal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee and Thoubal SP Rakesh Balwan as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Students, teachers and non-teaching staff of various schools in Thoubal and district level officials of different government departments took part in a tree planting programme.

During the function, DC Subhash highlighted the visible changes in the climatic condition and the adverse effect of deforestation affecting the citizens.
