Sit-in protests assault of auto-driver

Imphal, August 04 2025: Mayang Langjing ' Semgat Sagat Nupi Lup organised a sit-in protest at Mayang Langjing Tamang community hall on Sunday to denounce assault on an auto-driver.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, a Nupi Lup member recounted that on June 25, Uripok Kangchup Road Auto Megha Diesel Association (UKRAMDA) president and auto-driver Khangjarakpam Bogeshwor (45) met an accident with two-wheeler rider later identified as Thoudam Romesh (25) at Mayang Langjing auto parking during which both vehicles involved suffered minor damages.

However, Romesh assaulted Bogeshwor, who is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS hospital.

It is unfortunate that Romesh assaulted the auto-driver over minor incident, she denounced, while urging authorities to ensure justice.
