May Day celebrated

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Manipur Branch organised May Day celebration at Congress Bhawan, here, on Thursday.
The celebration programme presided over by INTUC Manipur Women Wing chairperson Thoudam Subita Devi was attended by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Hareshwar Goswami as chief guest, MPCC Legal Department chairman S Shyamacharan Singh, social worker N Mah-ananda Singh, INTUC Manipur secretary S Sanjit Singh, social worker G Genao Singh and social worker Md Subhan Khan as guests of honour.
During the programme, Hareshwar highlighted the history of May Day, when workers demanded an eight-hour workday.
Similarly, National People's Youth Front (NPYF), Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency organised May Day celebration at the Sekmaijin Thongam residence of National People's Party (NPP) vice president Urikhinbam Ramesh Singh, during which dignitaries present honoured the workers with presentation of simple gifts.
The celebration was attended by social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram as chief guest, U Ramesh as functional president, and former Zilla Parishad member Manoj, and Phoubakchao Awang Junior High School retired principal Angom Tiken as guests of honour.
Ramesh also presented cash gifts to workers of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency.
