Senapati Mathematical Society launched

The Senapati Mathematical Society, supported by INDIGI MINDS, has been formally launched on Wednesday at Tsiibe Hall, Senapati bazar with the launch event attended by Bethany Higher Secondary School, Senapati principal D Riveine as the chief guest.
The Society has Prof Khole Timothy Poumai (Department of Mathematics, Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi) and Hill College, Tadubi Asst Prof Eloshuo Maheo (Msc Mathematics; NET CRSE qualified) as advisors; Liizonai Kh (PhD scholar, Mathematics Department, NIT Manipur) as president; A Thoni (Msc Mathematics, MU, faculty members, INDIGI MINDS) as secretary; and Akuni Doreen (BSc Maths, St Stephen College, DU & faculty member, Dziila Bu Coaching institute) as treasurer.
Delivering the key note address, INDIGI MINDS general secretary A Thoni, confided that the Society aims to promote mathematics education in Senapati district by providing quality learning resources, training teachers, and promoting maths club, so as to achieve at-least 20 per cent increase in mathematics performance in all schools by 2030 .
According to the general secretary, the Society plans to collaborate with other organisations, including the Manipur Mathematical Society, to send students to study camps and organise workshops for teachers.
Other speakers urged the gathering to work together to change the old mind-set about mathematics being "too Hard" or "not for us" and wished the Mathematics Society a long and fruitful journey ahead, and play an active role from village schools to state platforms.
