Imphal, October 01 2024:
Several organisations have appealed to secure safe release of two youths who have been abducted and held hostage by Kuki militants.
In separate releases, Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL), Communist Party of India Manipur State Council and All Manipur Nupi Marup insisted that both state and central governments should rescue and hand over the two youths to their respective families safe and sound.
They also hoped that the two youths would be released on humanitarian ground.
They reminded that three youths from Thoubal who went for an army recruitment rally on September 27 were abducted by Kuki militants with one released/rescued later.
If the report of the two remaining youths held hostage for exchanging with a Kuki separatist leader, who is in the custody of NIA is true, then it is a complete disregard of the Indian constitution which the government should take immediate actions against the Kuki separatist groups, they continued, while adding that such acts are generally carried out international terrorists.
They further demanded the Ministry of Home Affairs to take up necessary actions and save the abducted duo.
