E-commerce platform 'Eyongkart' launched

Designed to facilitate sale of products made by the internally displaced persons, a new e-commerce platform named 'Eyongkart' has been launched on Tuesday.
The platform has been developed by teachers and students of Indian Institute of Technology, Dharwad, National Institute of Technology, Manipur and Manipur Technical University.
Speaking at the launch programme held at Koubru Hall of Manipur Press Club, IIT Dharwad, Karnataka assistant professor Konjengbam Anand pointed out that more than 60,000 people displaced are taking shelter in relief camps due to the on going conflict in the state.
The internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been working on anything and everything to maintain their livelihood, noted the professor, adding that the government as well as different agencies are corfducting skill development training programmes to empower the IDPs.
However, IDPs have been facing problems in marketing their handloom, handicraft and other products, he observed, adding that Eyongkart has been launched to facilitate the IDPs earn through sale of their products online.
The e-commerce platform will also provide space to.sell the products made by the people of the land, he added.
Stating that the platform is being launched with an aim to promote the products made by IDPs, he appealed to the people to support the IDPs .
