World Zoonoses Day 2024 observed

Imphal, October 28 2024: Under the aegis of Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East, office of the District Surveillance Officer in collaboration with Modhu & Sanahanbi Memorial Trust, Pourabi and Village Development Committee, Nungoi Awang Leikai observed the World Zoonosis Day 2024 at Nungoi Awang Leikai community hall on Monday.

The observance was attended by Manipur Handloom Handicrafts Development Corporation chairman & Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha, State Surveillance officer Dr Sanasam Gopal Singh, Imphal East CMO Dr L Indira Devi, and Sawombung Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee chairperson N Dhaneshwar Singh as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Ibomcha observed that the biggest flaw of the society is the loss of decorum and respect.

He also expressed concern that children abandon their parents at old age homes instead of caring for them.

In her speech, Dr L Indira informed that the theme for this year's Zoonoses Day observance is "One world, One Health: Prevent Zoonosis", carrying the message of preventing outbreak of diseases like the Covid-19 pandemic, which was transmitted from animals to humans.
