Government urged to keep its words

Denouncing alleged failure of the government to keep its words, the JAC formed against the killing of Soibam Sarat Kumar Singh of Sorok Athingbi Khunou by Kuki militants on June 6, along with Meira Paibis of Sorok Athingbi Khunou and Samupunbi organised a sit-in protest demanding-the government to translate its assurance to action at the earliest.
Addressing media persons on the sidelines of the protest, Samupunbi Khul Meira Paibi secretary Soibam Renubala recalled that the government assured of fulfilling the demands of the JAC including arresting the culprits within two weeks.
Before claiming the body, the JAC arrived at an understanding with the government hoping the assurance given would be fulfilled.
However, it is unfortunate that the government is not keeping its words, she denounced, while demanding arrest of the murderer whose details have already been furnished to government authorities.
She further said that intense, protests will be launched until those involved in the killing of Sarat are arrested.
During the protest, the participants held placards inscribed with slogans like 'Why is the government not arresting those involved in killing Sarat', 'Go back Kuki refugees', 'We condemn the silence of government in the killing of Sarat', 'Justice for S Saratkumar' and 'No separate administration' .
