Thoubal, February 26 2025:
Since June last year, Thoubal district has been grappling with power supply inadequacies, leading to widespread disruptions to daily chores, including education, healthcare and household activities.
Students presently appearing in the Class X and XII exams are among the worst hit due to frequent power outages.
The district experiences power cuts lasting for one hour 3-4 times a day, severely impacting daily life.
The officials attribute the problem to breakdown of the underground cable of the 400 KV Power Sub-Station at Thoubal Khunou since July last year.
However, residents are questioning why the government has not repaired the damaged cable for such a long time.
The single cable currently in use is laid in a drain often filled with water, leading to frequent bursts and prolonged power outages.
The public continue to endure significant hardship in all aspects of life, yet despite knowing the severity of the issue, the government has taken no substantial steps to resolve it, instead relying on temporary measures that only worsen the situation.
