Festival of Manipuri folk song concludes

Imphal, September 23 2024: The State Level Festival of Manipuri Folk Song organised by Phidam under the sponsorship of Ministry of Culture concluded at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), here, on Monday.

The closing ceremony of the two-day-festival was attended by JNMDA director Pukhrambam Bilash, Guru Ibempishak Cultural Academy founder president Leimapokpam Anandi and State Kala Akademi awardee Lourembam Bedabati as members on the dais.

Altogether 21 artistes, seven each for Pena, Khullang Ishei and Khunung Ishei, performed at the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Phidam secretary Sh Aruna informed the gathering about the organisation and its activities to promote art and culture.

She said that the festival was organised with the objective to promote folk art forms with special focus on Pena, Khullang Ishei and Khunung Ishei.

This was the second time Phidam has organised the State Level Festival of Manipuri Folk Song, she added.
