IKAL to pay tribute to Khamenlok martyrs

Imphal, May 22 2025: Ireibak Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) will organise a memorial service at Nongshum village in honour of the 10 individuals Who lost their lives in the June 13, 2023 Khamenlok incident.

Addressing media persons on Thursday at Nongshum, IKAL advisor N Sanatomba announced that the second edition of the homage-paying ceremony will include floral tributes to the 10 martyrs who died during what he described as the 'Khamenlok battle' .

He appealed to the public to participate in the event.

Sanatomba also strongly-condemned the Gwaltabi incident, where a Manipur State Transport (MST) bus carrying journalists for, the Shirui Lily Festival was stopped by army personnel, insisted on concealing "Manipur" from the state-owned vehicle.

He stated that such an action cannot be taken lightly and must be condemned in the strongest terms.

At the same time, Sanatomba assured that IKAL will extend full support to any agitation launched by journalists or other organisations in response to the incident.
