Legal awareness prog on child protection held

Kakching, August 18 2025: A day-long legal awareness programme on "Child Protection and Trafficking" was organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kakching, of Department of Social Welfare in association with village level federations (VLF) under Sekmaijin GP at Sekmaijin Mayai Leikai community hall, on Monday.

The function organised under the aegis of Kakching district administration, was attended by Sekmaijin GP Administrative Committee chairperson Ningthoujam Inaobi Singh, DCPU child protection officer Gajoo Rajkumari, Sekmaijin GP Panchayat secretary Lemba, Langmeidong CD Block mission manager Ningthoujam Rajeev and other mentors of VLF and presidents as presidium members.

The VLFs under Sekmaijin which have been formed under the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) include Sekmaijin Ningthou, Ibudhou, Meitei Leima, Apun-ba Lup and Lamjing Shintha.

During the function, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tengnoupal member secretary Darngam Khaling spoke on the topics "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012" and "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006", while State Child Protection Society (SCPS) programme officer Mala Lisham deliberated On "Child Trafficking" as resource persons.
