Director bats for children theatre in school curriculum

Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory director Dr Yumnam has highlighted the need for including children theatre in the school curriculum, especially in the present times.
He made proposal while speaking as chief guest during the valedictory function of a month-long children theatre workshop cum production organised by Children's Cultural Centre, Manipur under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi at MDU Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane on Sunday.
Sadananda continued that with the implementation of NEP 2020, theatre and mime classes have been introduced in colleges, but the same is yet to be included in schools.
It would be a good step on the part of the government to include children theatre in school curriculum as it is not only an art form but also helps in personality development, he opined.
The closing function was presided over by Children's Cultural Centre, Manipur president Romi Lamabam.
In all, 15 children participated in the workshop.
Later, a production, titled "Tapta" was presented to the audience.
