AR pays tributes to martyred soldier

Assam Rifles paid tribute to late Lance Naik Ha-numan Ram at the Battalion Headquarters on Monday.
Born on September 15, 1963 in Urai village, Pithor-agarh, Uttarakhand, L/Nk Hanuman Ram aspired to serve the Nation and joined 3 Assam Rifles on February 3, 1983 .
On June 17, 1995, Hanuman Ram was part of a quick reaction team that included one JCO and 15 other ranks, in a search operation based on credible intelligence about the presence of militants in a house.
He exhibited exceptional bravery while serving as Scout No 1 during the operation, according PRO IGAR (S) .
During the room intervention, Hanuman Ram opened the door, and the team came under heavy fire from HM militants.
Without concern for his own safety, Hanuman Ram swiftly moved across the room and engaged the firing militants.
Despite sustaining gunshot wounds during the intense encounter, he continued to fight valiantly before succumbing to his injuries, making the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, the PRO said in a release.
Assam Rifles conducted a wreath-laying ceremony and paid homage to its brave-heart, honouring his selfless and gallant actions in the line of duty.
The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles to uphold the security and integrity of the nation, it added.
