Journalists advised to maintain truth, ethics

Poknapham daily editor Aribam Robindro Sharma has said that youth of the nation particularly those working in media houses need to maintain truth, ethics and national values to make the nation developed and vibrant.
Robindro attended the Devarshi Narad Jayanti of the Vishwa Samvad Kendra (VSK), Manipur held at Kon-jeng Leikai as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the editor said a country can move to the path of development when youth particularly young journalists adhere to societal norms and have the zeal to contribute to nation building.
Former editor of Kesri weekly and Pragya Prava national convener J Nanda-kumar, who attended the event as resource person, said journalism has been gradually converted into business from serving people.
Before India achieved independence, journalism served the society and people but this noble profession has become business nowadays due to missing of ethics.
News and events have become a story nowadays and virtually converted into market items almost, he said and questioned as to how far media houses nowadays are shouldering responsibility to share information to people on news and events.
