Patriotic song competition held

Imphal, November 14 2024:
Artiste Training cum Educational Research Centre (ATEREC), Imphal organised the 10th State Level Open Patriotic Song Competition at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane, here, on Thursday.
Social Welfare Board formerchairperson Dr RK Nayansana and ATEREC president Sobita Soubam attended the competition as chief guest and president respectively, while social activist & educationist Dr Soraisam Manaoton and All Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK), Bishnupur Centre president Dr Thingbaijam Swarankumar were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, ATEREC vice-president Waikhom Bihari.
informed that the competition was organised with the stated objective to instil sense of patriotism among the people, especially the youth.
Invoking the sense of nationalism driven by 'Vande Mataram' during the freedom movement of India, he said patriotic songs are a great medium to promote patriotism, nationalism and sense of belongingness among the people.
Thokchom Lankhomba, Kshetrimayum Rupashya, and Toijam Chalamba won the first, second and third position respectively.
They will be awarded certificates and cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 respectively.
Sagolsem Krishibani, Lingjel Ashangbam, Ngariyanbam Silky, and Thounaojam Surjit were adjudged winner of consolation prizes carrying Rs 1000 each along with certificates.
The awards distribution ceremony will be held on a later date keeping in view of the current situation of the state, said ATEREC secretary Okendro Khundongbam.
Altogether, 40 singers competed in 40 different lyrics at the contest.
