Awareness raised on NMBA, child rights

Pherzawl, August 13 2025:
The district administration, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office and the District Child Protection Unit, organised an awareness programme on Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) across different locations in the district on Wednesday.
At the event held at Pherzawl community hall, which covered topics such as Child Marriage Prevention, the POGSO Act, Child Labour, and Child Rights, chief guest deputy commissioner Mannuamching emphasised the importance of NMBA and child welfare issues.
Joel G Haokip, ADC and DSWO, Pherzawl, outlined the objectives and activities of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, while N Thangzamuan, SDPO Thanlbn, spoke on the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice framework.
In Rovakot village, a free medical camp was jointly conducted by the district administration, District Social Welfare Office, and Health Department, Pherzawl, as part of the NMBA activities.
Doctors provided free consultations and distributed essential medicines to villagers in need.
A similar NMBA awareness programme was also organised at Parbung village.
The NMBA Pledge was recited at all venues to inspire and strengthen the fight against drugs.
Meanwhile, the District Health Society observed World Cancer Day at Senvon village, where Zosanglur Joute, SDO Tipaimukh, attended the function as the chief guest.
On the occasion, financial assistance was extended to cancer patients from the district.
