Imphal, January 13 2025: A joint operation by Ukhrul district police, 6th Bn MR, army and forest department destroyed 50 acres of poppy fields and set ablaze four huts used for poppy cultivation in Mullam Kuki village hill range under Litan police station as part of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trade in the region.

An FIR has been registered, and investigations underway to track those involved in the illicit activity.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a post on X, lauded the combined efforts of the forces, expressing his gratitude for their dedication in the fight against drugs.

CM Biren urged the people of Manipur to stand united in this battle to reclaim the state's hills and values, emphasising the importance of working together to build a drug-free Manipur.
