Woman found dead, suspect held; fire destroys house

Imphal, March 11 2025: One woman was found dead hanging in her house at Thongjao Awang Leikai under Waikhong police station on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Samjetsabam Lata Devi (40) w/o late Joykumar of Thongjao Awang Leikai.

According to the police report, her body was discovered around 6:30 am on Tuesday.

The body has been deposited at JNIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Waikhong police station has registered an FIR in connection with the incident, and a suspect has been arrested.

The arrested individual has been identified as Samjetsabam Dhananjoy (29) s/o Ibothem of Thongjao Awang Leikai.

On the other-hand, house of one Ningthoujam Tiken Singh of Kha Sanjenbam Awang Leikai was reduced to cinders by fire on March 9 around 5.30 pm.

A press release issued by Kha Sanjenbam Youth Club informed that Tiken and three other family members resided in the ill-fated house.
