Imphal, August 09 2025:
Deeply concerned over separation of same members of displaced families currently taking shelter in relief camps and pre-fabricated houses across the state, the Relief Committee Manipur appealed to authorities concerned to urgently review the present policy and take steps to reunite family members in the same relief camps.
According to a statement of the Committee, families displaced by the ongoing violence since May, 2023 are being accommodated at relief camps across the state with many instances of members of the same displaced families housed separately.
Fathers, mothers and children of same families have been allotted accommodation in separate camps or pre-fabricated houses thereby creating im-mense emotional and physical hardships for the already traumatised families.
Families particularly those with young children or elderly members are finding it extremely difficult to manage daily needs without the support of their full household members, the committee said adding continued separation could lead to long-term emotional and mental health consequences for families.
