Army distributes solar street lights

Imphal, June 08 2024:
Promoting green energy practices aligned with the National Solar Mission of the Central government, Indian Army distributed 43 solar street lights to residents of NC Phai, Leimakhong, Makhan, and Premnagar villages.
The initiative aims to tackle the challenge of limited access to electricity in remote areas, improve the infrastructure and quality of life in these remote areas, ensuring safer and more sustainable living conditions for the local population.
The lack of street lights in these villages has long been a concern, impacting the movement and safety of villagers during night hours.
Responding to this need, the Army procured these solar lights through Operation Sadbhavna and handed them over to the village chiefs, said a release.
