Imphal, July 07 2024:
Internally displaced persons in Jiribam staying in relief camps are unable to access Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) as the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jiribam is bereft of basic facilities.
In a release, Coordinating Body Imphal spokesperson Bon Khurai said that after violence broke out in Jiribam and several Meetei villages were torched, the people have been forced to seek refuge at the relief camps.
As such, the body donated Rs 10,000 each to the relief camp and village volunteers of Mongbung and Lamtai Khunou, and also Rs 5000 to Ningthem Khunjao.
He then said that as the CHC in Jiribam has not been properly developed, the relief camp residents are having difficulties in availing CMHT facilities.
On top of these, there is no CMHT empanelled hospital in Jiribam and as such people seeking refuge in Cachar and Silchar are facing inconveniences.
As such, he appealed to the state government to take up necessary action in the matter, while urging for immediate arrest of the culprits involved in Soibam Saratkumar's murder, which triggered the unrest in the border district.
