Farmers' body demands functional monitoring cell

Loumee Yaipha Lup (LOYA Lup), Kangleipak has demanded the state government to make functional the monitoring cell constituted by the government.
LOYA Lup observed its 2nd foundation day at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday with president Yurembam Tiken, Kanglarnei president Yumnam Leirik Leima, Kanglei Ima Lup president RK Sanahanbi, Kangla Pao editor Paonam Labango Mangang and Lup advisor Maibam Bisheshwar as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, LOYA Lup working president Touranbam Birjit highlighted the hardships besieging farmers in the last four to five years due to various circumstances including Covid-19 pandemic, natural calamities and the current crisis.
In order to assess and address the farmers' grievances, the state government established a monitoring cell, which, however, is lying defunct, he said while demanding the government to make the cell fully functional.
He also drew attention of the government to release the pending compensation to farmers, affected by the current crisis.
