VDF celebrates 16th Raising Day

The Village DefenceForce (VDF) who have been playing a pivotal role in maintaining the law and order of the State since its formation by the Home Department 16 years back, is celebrating its 16th RaisingDay celebration today.
BISHNUPUR: At Bishnupur, the 16th Raising Day celebration was held at Lainingthou Mayangamba Community Hall, Bishnupur, organised by Bishnupur District VDF Welfare Association under the initiative of SP, Bishnupur.
The event was attended by Additional (Ops) Amarjit Lamabam MPS, Additional SP (LO) Y Premjit MPS as chief guest along with SDPO, DSP, OCs and other officials as special invitees.

Additional SP, Amarjeet Lamabam stated that like the rest of the other State police forces, VDF has also played a remarkable role in maintaining the law and order of the State.
He also reminded the gathering the notable role played by the VDF in the ongoing crisis in the State.
As part of the event, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of late VDF personnel.
Later commendation certificates including cash prizes were presented to 65 selected VDF personnel for their remarkable service and dedication.
Monetary assistance to two ailing VDF personnel families were also handed during the event.
KAKCHING: The 16th Rising Day celebration of VDF was also held today at Kakching district headquarters, organised by the Kakching District VDF Welfare Association (KDVDFWA) .
The event was held under the initiative of SP Kakching, L Priyadarshini.
At the event, five VDF personnel of Kakching who sustained injuries while performing their duties during the ongoing violence in the State were presented monetary assistance of Rs 10,000 each.
The monetary assistance was handed to Jugai Malik, Angom Suresh, Khudongbam Ratan, Hijam Romio and Khaidem Priyokumar by SP, L Priyadarshini during the event.
