Activist completes five-district walk for green cause

Imphal, August 04 2025: Environmentalist Choudurimayum Joykumar has completed a foot journey across five districts of the state to spread the message of environmental protection, concluding his effort on Monday at the forest department office near Sanjenthong, Imphal.

The journey began on July 31 with Central Forest Division DFO Vikram Suresh Nadhe flagging off his march from in front of Sekmai forest beat office.

Over the course of several days, Joykumar walked through Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur and Imphal West, meeting people along the way to share his message.

Joykumar said his march was aimed at spreading the message that safeguarding the environment is not solely the responsibility of the forest & environment departments, NGOs or CSOs but everyone's indispensable duty, adding that his conversations during the walk were meant to inspire collective responsibility among communities.

Sadar West RFO Kiranjit Yumnam stated that during the journey Joykumar directly engaged with residents in various locations, providing environmental awareness and encouraging people to take part in conservation efforts.

He commended Joykumar for his commitment and urged him to continue playing a significant role in raising awareness in future.
