Farmers trained on oil palm cultivation

A day-long awareness-cum-training programme on Oil Palm Cultivation was organised by Patanjali Foods Limited under the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) scheme, here, on Tuesday.
Organised with an aim to promote cultivation of oil palm in the state, the function was attended by NMEO-OP nodal officer M Geetchandra Singh, Patanjali Foods state head Joshi Kiran and NMEO-OP consultant M S Khaidem as members on the dais.
Addressing the trainees, Joshi Kiran and MS Khaidem highlighted that large-scale oil palm plantations have been initiated in the state under the NMEO-OP scheme following successful pilot tests.
They noted that oil palm is an evergreen crop with potentials to generate substantial income for farmers.
They also informed that expert-led training sessions are being conducted to acquaint the farmers on basic knowledge and skills for fruitful cultivation.
