RIMS observes Voluntary Blood Donation Day

RIMS Department of Transfusion Medicine organised the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2024, under the theme "Donate Blood, Donate Life" on Tuesday.
This year's event marked the 20th anniversary of the celebration, with a special message of gratitude: "Thank You, Blood Donors".
Held in front of the General OPD Block of RIMS Hospital, the event saw enthusiastic participation from voluntary donors.
According to a statement, the celebration was attended by RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma and medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib as chief guest and president respectively.
In his address, Prof Sunil emphasised the importance of blood donation in saving lives, particularly in emergency surgeries, trauma care, and chronic illnesses.
He encouraged more people to become regular blood donors, noting that a single donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
The event also included the recognition of the voluntary donors, Who were felicitated for their life-saving contributions.
Coinciding with the blood donation event, the closing ceremony of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign was held at the same venue.
The event acknowledged the contributions of the Safai Karamcharis working at RIMS under CRED and MSS, Imphal, who were awarded tokens of appreciation for their dedicated service.
Certificates and cash prizes were also distributed to the winners of the state-level painting competition organised as part of the campaign.
The programme was attended by RIMS deputy director (Admn)> deputy director of SBTC Manipur, dean (academics) and sub-dean, HoDs, principals of RIMS Dental College and College of Nursing, aS well as students, staff, and representatives of CRED and MSS, Imphal.
The event celebrated both the life-saving efforts of blood donors and the dedication of sanitation workers, contributing to a healthier and cleaner community, informed the statement.
