Awareness on renewable energy held

Imphal, February 27 2025:
Under the aegis of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) organised a one-day orientation programme on 'Harnessing renewable energy sources' along with a discussion session on farmers' schemes under MNRE on the theme 'Enhancing productivity through renewable energy' at Heiyu Lampak community hall, Phayeng, Imphal West on Thursday.
MANIREDA director Naorem Praveen, senior scientific officer Babita Thangjam, scientific officer Aga Khan, junior engineers Sanatombi Devi & K Gojendro, Phayeng GP caretaker chairperson Angom Gojendro, and local elder Ningthoujam Romesh attended the programme dignitaries on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Angom Gojendro highlighted the importance of harnessing renewable energy and urged for farmers' cooperation in bringing biogas technology in the village.
He also urged MANIREDA to explore possibilities of installing rooftop solar plants and solar street lamps in Phayeng.
Senior scientific officer Babita Thangjam spoke on Various projects and schemes under the state and central governments including the grid-connected rooftop solar plants encouraging the public to apply for the project.
