Imphal, January 27 2022:
While expressing remorse over the imposition of total shutdown in Panchayat area at a time when the preboard examination for class X students is underway, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association appealed to all concerned to abstain from calling bandh/ strike/shutdown that could be detrimental to interests of the students.
While claiming that imposition of total shutdown on Thursday was without giving prior information to public, a statement of the Association said that exempting only religious ceremonies from the purview of the shutdown was very unfortunate and at least the ongoing physical preboard examination for class X students organised by the Association should have been allowed.
Before the commencement of the pre-board examination, the Association had on January 16 appealed to all concerned against giving any disturbance to conduct of the examination.
However, the total shutdown on Thursday in Panchayat area across the state was contradictory to the Association's appeal and seemingly
in personal interest, the Association said and maintained that the total shutdown was also against the interest of the students who are appearing the physical exam.
Had the total shutdown been called
by giving prior information, the Association could have postponed the exam but it was not done and thus the shutdown gave mental and physical harassment to students giving the exam, the Association said and appealed to all concerned not to impose bandh/strike/shutdown without giving prior information to public in future.
