Continued from previous issue
Continuing the annual statement of the Central Committee issued on the occasion of the 60th Raising Day, the Koireng-led UNLF elaborated on people's responsibility and strategy to defeat India's covert and overt plans to suppress the national liberation struggle.
"First, it is essential to build unity and faith among the indigenous people and communities of Manipur by understanding collectively the historical necessity of inter-dependent co-existence.
Building unity among the Meeteis is paramount so as to shoulder the responsibility together with a sense of sacrifice.
However, it will be not easy to foster unity given the divergent aspirations of the indigenous communities.
Accordingly, realization of the historical destiny of inter-dependent co-existence is imperative to expose and defeat the evil designs of India's divide and destroy policy at this crucial juncture".
Second, it is no doubt India's plan to trigger the Kuki-Meetei conflict so that the core issue of the Manipur-India national contradiction could be hijacked or subsided.
In view of this, it is the main responsibility of revolutionary Organisations to defeat India's plan.
The main task of sharpening the irreconcilable Manipur-India contradiction since 1949 falls on revolutionary organisations.
Accordingly, engaging Indian forces in all possible ways is the path to liberate Manipur from suppressive Indian administration and also to save the indigenous people from the illegal immigrants.
Third, Kuki-Meetei conflict is a trap laid by India using armed Kukis to distract revolutionary organisations so that the core issue of sovereignty and the Manipur-India contradiction could be punctured.
Accordingly, the Meeteis should be cautious of the India-sponsored Kuki-Meetei conflict and resist Meetei-centric perspective as such a mindset will only aid India's plan to break apart Manipur.
The Meetei community should be conscious about their historical responsibility of building the foundation for interdependent co-existence among the indigenous communities of the land, the annual statement said and called upon the Meeteis of the present generation to be capable of taking their historical responsibility.
Fourth, as the economy of Manipur has been completely shattered by India's anti- Manipur conspiracy it is imperative to take up certain measures to revive the economy.
The first and foremost measure is to reduce drain of huge money which can be achieved through restriction on imports from India except for essential commodities and construction materials.
Another measure is to ban construction companies from bringing non-skilled labourers from mainland India.
The third measure is to ban Indian companies from mining mineral resources of Manipur and the fourth spread the self-reliance on food campaign.
Another measure is to establish many micro and small industries/enterprises suited to Manipur so that import could be reduced as far as possible.
For this, India's banks operating in Manipur should be allowed to invest 30 percent of the deposits to entrepreneurs of Manipur.
These measures will help in laying foundation for a new economy of Manipur with a mass movement and create a new culture of interdependent co-existence and uniform development of all the indigenous communities of Manipur, the annual statement said adding that this has been party's thought for a long time.
The annual statement of the Central Committee of Koireng-led UNLF further said that the ongoing India sponsored bloodshed and its resultant innumerable hardships are some primary factors for the people raising their voice to live independently for at least a day than living under India's suppressive regime.
The growing desire for independence among the people of Manipur is due to India's repressive policies.
Whatever repressive methods India employ to suppress the increasing cry for independence will strengthen revolutionary forces.
The UNLF believes that revolutionary forces will acquire the strength to overthrow the Indian suppressive regime by strengthening the revolutionary forces.
This is the dialectics of liberation that overthrew colonialism in the world and is the historical process that will happen in Manipur and other parts of the WESEA.
One important thing, however, is that this historical opportunity might be missed if revolutionary forces fail to take conscious action to build revolutionary unity and consolidate indigenous communities, the annual statement said adding that the party is aware of it.
While asserting that India's repressive policies had turned Manipur into a mass graveyard, the annual statement alleged that India's policies have created not only chaos and suffering but also left people jobless and farmers unable to harvest crops.
All these are intended effects of India's repressive policies so that people of Manipur submit to slavery, the annual statement said and called upon people to take a decisive stand to live independently and independent Manipur in view of the emerging situation.
