Employees notified on house rent, transport allowances

Imphal, May 26 2022:
Government employees staying at quarters and utilising government vehicles will be made to refund house rent and transport allowances, if taken.
As per an office memorandum issued in this regard by the chief Secretary, house rent allowance is given to a government employee who does not utilise government facility or quarters at the area he/she has been posted while transport allowance is given to an employee for movement between the place where the employee resides and office or work site.
The office memorandum also directed the government employees who utilise government facility and vehicles to refund additional house rent allowance and transport allowance within June 30, 2022 through treasuries concerned or through E-grass portal.
Employees who do not take these allowances are also told to submit self-declaration to DDO concerned and head of departments within June 30 while employees seeking these facilities should also submit self-declaration to DDO concerned or head of department for seeking claim, it said.
Government employees must examine their pay slips clearly and refund additional amount if taken with self-declaration, office memorandum said, adding that verification in this regard will be initiated from July 1, 2022 and disciplinary action could be initiated against employees taking house rent and transport allowances in improper way.
