Jiribam, February 26 2025:
Unknown persons looted Kalinagar High School, Jiribam district, on the intervening night of February 24 and 25 .
The thieves reportedly made off with a computer monitor, CPU, UPS and a mobile phone used for recording staff attendance.
School headmistress Th Sorojini opined the miscreants might have taken advantage of the school campus bereft of fencing.
They broke into the headmistress' office and stole the computer monitor, CPU, UPS and the mobile phone provided by Star Education for tracking staff attendance.
She also mentioned that the school is old and has not undergone any repairs or renovations, including the installation of a fence.
The headmistress further informed that the school is facing a shortage of teachers, with no Science, Bengali or Meetei Mayek instructors, and there is also no clerk or chowkidar.
The absence of a chowkidar to guard the school might have emboldened the miscreants to commit the crime, she noted.
