29 acres of poppies scythed in Tengnoupal, CCpur

Imphal, February 25 2025:
As part of a coordinated effort to combat drug trafficking in Manipur, security forces, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, conducted a planned operation resulting in the destruction of approximately 29 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in Tengnoupal and Churachandpur districts.
On February 24, a joint team comprising the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police eradicated four acres of illegal poppy cultivation in the Dampi Hill Range, located within the Sangaikot subdivision of Churachandpur district.
In a parallel operation, personnel from the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police successfully destroyed approximately 25 acres of illicit poppy fields in Khudei Khullen village, Tengnoupal district.
These operations were conducted to disrupt, the opium supply chain and counter insurgent groups involved in the drug trade, according to a PRO IGAR (S) release.
