Imphal, August 22 2021: In connection with the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Imphal East under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) organised a one-day online legal awareness programme on "Rights of transgender under the present legal framework and challenges faced by them at the time of pandemic" for PLVs and transgender on Saturday.

The programme was attended by District and Sessions Judge Imphal East and chairman DLSA RK Memcha, CJM Imphal East and secretary N Lanleima, Civil Judge Senior Division Imphal East K Nirojit and transgender activist Santa Khurai.

As part of the programme, K Nirojit spoke on the topic of "Rights of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019", while Santa Khurai deliberated on "Challenges faced by transgender at the time of pandemic" as resource persons.

Meanwhile, DLSA Bishnupur organised a one-day on line awareness cum discussion programme op "Right of senior citizen: Issues and challenges faced by senior citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic" on Sunday.

District and Sessions Judge Bishniipur cum DLSA Bishnupur chairman W Tonen, CJM Bishnupur cum secretary DLSA Mona Lisa Maibam, advocate Th Hemchandra, PLVs, panel lawyers, CSOs and members of various old age homes in "Bishnupur District attended the programme during which advocate Th Hemchandra spoke on "Right of senior citizen: issue and challenges faced by senior citizen during Covid-19 pandemic" as resource person.
