Sit-in demands service dismissal of 'killer' cops

Thoubal, December 16 2024: Womenfolk of Thoubal Khunou on Monday staged a sit-in protest at Thoubal Melaground demanding termination of service of Manipur police commandos involved in the killing of a village volunteer at Salungpham village on December 14 .

During the sit-in, mother of the slain village volunteer strongly condemned the police action, and demanded justice for her son's death.

She said her son was a daily wager who left home to protect his village.

Expressing grief and anger, she said that if such extreme actions by the police continue, no one would be left to defend and save Manipur, and called for immediate booking of the police commandos involved in the killing.

The distraught mother also demanded the release of the six other village volunteers arrested by the police.

During the protest, the participants held placards inscribed with slogans such as "Police commandos involved in the killing of the village volunteer should be terminated immediately", "the arrested six village volunteers should be unconditionally released", "Police commandos should exhibit bravery in the hills, just as they do in the valley", "the problems caused by narco-terrorists should be solved immediately" and "Repeal AFSPA from Manipur" .
