Imphal, August 16 2025:
In connection with the 79th Independence Day celebration of India on Friday, Thongju MLA Th Biswajit Singh met displaced persons currently taking shelter at Kodompoki sports complex and Lamding higher secondary school relief camps in Thoubal and distributed edibles and plastic water storage buckets to families.
The MLA also distributed bicycles and stationery items to students living at the relief camps and apprised the displaced persons about efforts being put in by Governor to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
According to Th Biswajit, efforts to bring peace and normalcy had already been initiated during the popular government and the present President's Rule administration continued the policy.
"Beginning dialogue between the two sides is a sign of returning peace and normalcy," he said, adding that some displaced families have already returned to their native villages.
"PR administration has plans for gradual return of all the displaced persons," he assured.
