TYCM seals TRI office over inept functioning

Imphal, January 15 2025: Volunteers of Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters on Wednesday locked the office of Tribal Research Institute(TRI)at Chingmelrong, to protest alleged disregard by the government authorities to their appeal for effective functioning of the institute.

In a release, TYCM Media and Information Department also charged the director and the administrative officer-cum-research officer of TRI of not attending office.

It also contended that during a surprise visit by TYCM volunteers at 2.57 pm the TRI office was found closed in-spite of being a working day.

The Council had earlier urged the director to ensure normal operations of the TRI office from January 15 onwards, while also cautioning that failure to do so will result in the government and concerned authorities being held solely responsible for any untoward incidents that may occur thereafter, the release informed.

"When the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) office is weakened and there is a shortage of manpower, it directly affects the tribal communities in Manipur by causing delays in the developmental progress," the release conveyed.
