Wide Angle holds children's cultural meet

Imphal, November 14 2024:
Wide Angle in collaboration with Child Rights & You (CRY) organised the Annual Children's Cultural Meet at the Sagolband Moirang Hanuba office of Wide Angle, which had the participation of children from five villages in Imphal West district and students from Planet Kids Moiranghanuba and Yaiskul.
The event celebrated cultural expressions under the theme, "Protect, Educate, Empower" .
According to a press release issued by Wide Angle, the meet featured cultural dance performances choreographed by instructor Donaldo Ahanthem, showcasing the state's rich heritage with a focus on child protection and empowerment.
Wide Angle secretary Montu Ahanthem, emphasised the need for safe spaces for children to learn and grow in his keynote address while MCPCR chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar, speaking as the chief guest, lauded Wide Angle and CRY for their efforts in supporting vulnerable children through education and cultural initiatives.
In his speech, Wide Angle advisor S Sharat Kumar stated that cultural activities are crucial for holistic child development.
Another highlight of the event was the announcement of the Ahanthem Ongbi Haobam Lembi Devi Memorial Meritorious Award, a new initiative recognising academic excellence among students from Wide Angle's remedial centres.
Starting from the academic session 2025-26, the award consisting of certificate and cash prize of Rs 12,000 will be presented to student who scores highest marks in final examinations, informed the release.
