Imphal, August 14 2024: The 8th foundation day of Senior Citizens' Society, Khundrakpam was celebrated at the Pangei community hall on Tuesday.

The event featured floral tributes in honour and respect of Bir Tikendrajit, Paona Brajabashi and Thangal General, along with observing a two-minute silence to pay respect to martyrs who have lost their lives in the current crisis and to departed members of the Society.

Speaking as the chief guest, social worker Oinam Anjali Leima highlighted the plight of elderly individuals in Khundrakpam assembly constituency who lack support.

She proposed establishing an old age home and said that it would be a great blessing for these individuals.

Society's general secretary Dr Ksh Kala said that it has 200 members and owns land of its own.

As such, the Society can now set up an old age home with support of the public.

Presided over by president Khangenbam Rajendra, the function was also attended by former Khundrakpam AC BJP candidate Sorokhaibam Shyamkishore as guest of honour.
