Imphal, August 11 2024: A grocery shop and an adjacent room in Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai under Lamphel police station were gutted in a fire in the early hours of Sunday.

The grocery belonged to one Loukrakpam Kumar Mangang (65) s/p (L) Nongyai of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai.

The shop was connected to his house.

According to reports from the spot, the fire broke out around 1.30 am Sunday.

Nearby residents assisted in trying to extinguish the flames.

Later, Imphal Fire Service arrived at the scene and worked to put the fire, which was finally extinguished around 3 am.

The fire completely destroyed the grocery shop and also damaged an adjacent room.

It is suspected that the fire may have been caused by an electric short circuit.

The owner, Kumar, sustained some injuries on his legs while trying to put out the fire, reports stated.
