Imphal, April 11 2025:
Under the aegis of All India State Government Employees Confederation (Manipur State Unit), employees, teachers and pensioners marched to the parliament on Friday with various demands concerning them.
The march was led by AITUC general secretary Amarjit Kaur, who explained that the protest was about the various dissatisfactions of labourers against the Modi-government.
The shortage of staff in government offices and appointing contract staff instead of recruiting fresh deserving ones, for the functioning of government departments, is an affront against the employees.
The central government's "surrender" to Indian and international corporates is also unsettling.
Apart from this, the other demands such as statutory pension, dearness allowance and delayed payment of arrears, protection of civil services, and protection of PSUs and implementation of 16th pay commission are also matters that need to be addressed.
The march was also participated by representatives from Manipur.
Later, a nationwide strike was announced on April 20 .
