Lup hails Shah's stand on religious sites

Imphal, March 09 2025:
The Ima Kondong Lairembi Thougal Lup, Moreh has expressed its gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for directing the state's administration to restore religious sites damaged or vandalised during the ethnic violence in Manipur in May 2023 .
In a statement, the Lup noted destruction of various religious sites, including the Ima Kondong Lairembi, which targeted by armed Kuki narco-terrorists during the height of the conflict that erupted on May 3, 2023 .
It highlighted that the Ima Kondong Lairembi was completely burned down in front of central forces on May 3 and 8, 2023 .
The Lup further noted that the Arambai Tenggol had raised the issue with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, leading to the Union Home Minister's intervention.
Amit Shah instructed the Governor to take necessary measures to restore religious sites destroyed or damaged during the violence.
Ima Kondong Lairembi Thougal Lup also praised the Union Minister's proactive approach and called for compensation for the victims of the violence.
It also welcomed the efforts for reopening of the national highways and urged the authorities to ensure the safe return of internally displaced persons to their native places.
