Meitei Alliance hails 'Road to Peace' meet

Meitei Alliance has welcomed the 'Road to Peace' initiative jointly organised in Imphal by civil society organisations including COCOMI, AMUCO, FOCS, Arambai Tenggol, various Ima Tups and student bodies along with Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), calling it a major milestone' in the collective journey toward unity, justice and lasting peace In a statement, the Alliance expressed appreciation to all groups involved, noting that the meeting safeguarded the enduring spirit of pluralism, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence that has long defined Manipur's social fabric.
It said that the initiative reaffirmed the state's rich cultural heritage across ethnic lines and the idea of Manipur as a place where communities live together in harmony.
The alliance praised TIM for its consistent stand on preserving Manipur as a cohesive, inclusive and harmonious multi-ethnic society, and for its principled commitment to peaceful coexistence of all communities.
It commended TIM's support for maintaining the unity and integrity of Manipur, updating the National Register of Citizens to protect and promote the rights of genuine citizens, abrogating the Suspension of Operation agreements with KNO and UPF, de-recognising and deleting any Kuki tribe (AKT) from the Scheduled Tribe list, freeing the state from drugs, and rehabilitating and resettling internally displaced persons to their original places.
The Meitei Alliance urged all stakeholders to support these efforts and the unity they represent, stating that such initiatives can empower all communities in Manipur, especially smaller ethnic groups, to voice concerns through justice, mutual respect and shared unity.
Calling the event a meaningful model for inclusive dialogue, accountability and rule of law, the Alliance appealed to citizens to recognise it as a vital step toward restoring Manipur as a vibrant, secure and united society.
