ZUF washes hands off house, ration tax

Imphal, October 06 2024: Apart from clarifying that it is unrelated with serving monetary demand to heads of villages in Imphal and Zeliangrong areas, the armed Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) appealed to the public not to entertain any monetary demand served in the name of the Front.

According to a ZUF statement, serving of monetary demand in written form addressed to Khunpu/Khullak, Peipou and secretaries of Zeliangrong villages in Imphal and Zeliangrong areas on September 20 asking every household to pay Rs 300 each as house and ration tax could be handiwork of the group led by Kamson who defected from ZUF and surrendered to NSCN-Unification.

Since joining NSCN-Unification, the Kamson led group cannot use ZUF nomenclature but the group has been using organisation's name in serving monetary demand, the statement said and appealed Zeliangrong village authorities, area council and CSOs not to entertain any monetary demand in the name of Naga movement.
