AR seizes betel nuts worth ₹2.4 crore

Imphal, November 04 2024: Assam Rifles reportedly seized 350 sacks of illegal betel nuts worth Rs 2.4 crore at Khuga village in Churachandpur district.

According to PRO IGAR (S), three trucks and a Tata DI pick-up truck loaded with illegal betel nuts tried to cross Khuga village around 2 am on November 1, which an AR team, acting on specific input, intercepted at the vehicle check post established at Khuga.

On checking, it the vehicles were found loaded with 350 sacks of illegal betel nuts beneath covers and cartons.

All four vehicles were detained and handed over to Churachandpur divisional forest officer after a joint interrogation by AR and police, it said.
