ECI doubles pay for BLOs, introduces honorarium for EROs, AEROs

Imphal, August 02 2025:
The Election Commission of India has doubled the annual remuneration for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and raised payments for BLO supervisors, while introducing honoraria for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for the first time.
Under the revised structure, BLOs will now receive Rs 12,000 annually, up from Rs 6,000, along with an increased incentive of Rs 2,000 for electoral roll revisions.
BLO supervisors' annual remuneration has risen from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000.EROs and AEROs will be paid Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
The Commission has also approved a special incentive of Rs 6,000 for BLOs engaged in the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) beginning in Bihar.
The last revision in remuneration was carried out in 2015.ECI said that the move recognises the critical role of electoral roll staff in ensuring impartial, accurate and transparent voter lists, calling them the "bedrock of democracy".
The Commission added that adequate compensation is vital to support the held personnel who assist voters and strengthen the electoral process.
