Governor, CM extend Gandhi Jayanti greetings

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and chief minister N Biren Singh have extended their best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
In his message, the Governor recounted Gandhi propagating and living the ideals of truth and non-violence and holding them as key to peace and prosperity.
"On this auspicious occasion, I urge upon all citizens to follow the teachings of Gandhiji and forget our differences for the larger good of all.
Gandhiji had a firm commitment to cleanliness and in a broader context, it is the purity of the soul also for becoming better human beings".
"In keeping with Gandhiji's concept of cleanliness and sanitation, Swachh Bharat Mission has been launched with the aim of keeping the country clean with the participation of all citizens.
A befitting way of honouring the great soul is joining the Mission wholeheartedly by keeping one's home and surrounding clean," he said.
In his message, CM N Biren stated that on this day, the nation has also been observing the National Cleanliness Day every year.
"Mahatma Gandhi lived his life in pursuit of the power of truth after which he named his movement 'Satyagraha', which implies seeking truth in the spirit of peace and love".
"During these difficult times faced by our state, the core of Gandhiji's philosophy of 'Ahimsa', finds much relevance, with the belief that changes could be achieved through peaceful means, through dialogue and understanding in the face of adversity," he said.
The CM further conveyed that Gandhi Jayanti should make us ponder over his thoughts and principles to enable ourselves to face the challenges that confront us.
