Imphal, July 30 2024:
Chief minister N Biren has returned to the state on Tuesday following a series of meetings with Central ministers in Delhi.
Media personnel, who had gathered at Imphal Airport in anticipation of his arrival, were left without a statement as the CM chose not to interact with the press.
CM Biren's visit to Delhi, which began on July 25, was primarily for attending the Chief Ministers' Conclave and the NITI Aayog meeting.
During his stay, he engaged in discussions with several key ministers, including defence minister Rajnath Singh, road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, and railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
These meetings focused on addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur since May 2023, as well as discussing critical infrastructure projects such as national highways and the enhancement of railway connectivity.
Post the NITI Aayog meeting, CM Biren also conferred with health minister and BJP national president JP Nadda, BJP national general secretary BL Santosh, and parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju.
The chief minister's schedule culminated with a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the 15-month crisis in Manipur was a focal point, as per reports published in several national media.
Reports indicate that home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh were also present at the closed door meeting.
Biren's visit to Delhi was highly anticipated by the people of the state, who are keenly awaiting the outcomes and potential resolutions that the Central government might propose to address the enduring crisis in the state.
